Care & Maintenance
By taking proper care of your garments, you can extend their lifespan, benefiting both the environment and your wallet. Here are some tips on how to care for your clothes, wash them properly, and keep them fresh for longer.
Washing & Care
• Wash at Low Temperatures – Don't wash your clothes any hotter than necessary. The recommended temperature for our garments is always listed.
• Wash for Shorter Durations – If your garment is only slightly dirty, the shortest wash cycle is often enough to freshen it up. Washing for shorter periods also saves water and energy.
• Stains – Often, simply spot treating the stain, rinsing out any product used, and hanging the garment to dry is sufficient. It's time- and energy-efficient.
• Fasten & Turn Inside Out – Always fasten buttons and zippers before washing to prevent garments from catching on each other or wearing out unnecessarily. Always turn garments inside out to reduce wear and tear and maintain a nice surface.
• Wash Bag – Always use a wash bag for delicate fabrics like silk, viscose, wool, and lyocell, or finer garments with details like lace and embellishments. This also applies to bras or swimwear with underwire.
• Detergent – Choose a liquid detergent, preferably eco-friendly. Liquid detergents dissolve better than powders and are the mildest option for both hand and machine washing. Always follow the dosing instructions; more detergent doesn't make your clothes cleaner.
• Gentle Drying – Let garments air dry and avoid tumble dryers and drying cabinets to protect your clothes and save energy. However, down jackets do best when tumble dried with 2-4 tennis balls after washing or if the jacket gets wet unexpectedly in rain.
• Shrinking – Some shrinkage is natural for certain textiles like viscose. If your garment shrinks significantly, it can often be ironed back into shape after washing or gently reshaped while damp.
• Swimwear – Rinse your swimwear after each use and try to dry it in a shaded area. All of Bubbleroom's in-house designed swimwear is tested by third-party laboratories for UV light, chlorine, and saltwater, but it won't hurt to give your garments a helping hand.
• Right Hangers – Garments such as shirts, blouses, jackets, blazers, and dresses fare best when hung on quality wooden hangers. Use pants hangers for tailored trousers and fold them along the crease rather than the seam. This way, the shape is better preserved, and wrinkles are avoided.
